Last Chance on outdated data
Yesterday was once again one of the rare days when it was stuck somewhere in the FOEN one bit. As a result, were not updated throughout the day on the latest available data and the display of nine clock in the morning. Also on the list at the Bafu itself.
so rarely happens, fortunately enough. Those who still really want to know a drain, has one last chance: the PDF with the last few days. Even yesterday these were tracked up to date all the time!

MeteoSwiss offers the current overview and forecasts, as well Meteocentrale and more.
-> MeteoSwiss has predicted rain for the beginning of the week Friday.

Ideal also want to be in front of the canoe rental area to the target and then to delete it.
-> SMS Thursday lunch:
Weather Alert Level 1: Strong rain, Hinter-TG/Fürstenland, 21:00 - 16.08. 05:00
162 : paid service MeteoSwiss informed about what stronger storms, either via SMS or MMS. The message comes here just before the event - more than an hour before - but it is very precise. Configuration instructions on this page PDF on the right.
-> no example, because rain front without thunderstorms.
FOEN : the Federal Office itself offers a forecast for the Rhine catchment area, with eight stations.
-> Thursday: forecast a peak in Andelfingen on Saturday afternoon with about 450 m3 / s (an indication that the wave starts in Bürglen)
The situation then on Friday evening: Murg Wängi with 15 m3 / s
and on Saturday morning: wave Thur Bürglen with 350 m3 / s
and other great water levels over the whole of Saturday!
Conclusion: on Wednesday, but no later than Thursday evening was a wonderful canoe trip can be planned. After all, more than one day in advance!
other effects:
snowmelt : occurs in early summer when the weather is pretty stable for a long time. Using the linked flow charts at the measuring stations on RiverMap, the runoff can be predicted almost to the hour.
Snow Depth Map : the Federally. Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research published in mid-December one card with information.
drain of (Jam) lakes: an early stage because of the weather and other circumstances (electricity market) less regulated at an early stage. Difficult to find information about this.

eruptions on the chart: tidal waves
On the linked flow charts (PDF) of the preceding days, you can watch again and again very steep and high outbreaks. What is actually behind such a sudden rash?
Most are thunderstorms with heavy rainfall which a river to swell as in the image on the left.
The level can rise very slowly or very quickly. This is then connected to a tidal wave, which at high speed (about 30 km / h) and accumulated with driftwood comes along.
A member of the Alpine Kayak Team (ACT ) could hold the end of July, a tidal wave in impressive images. The outbreak on the chart above of 10 m3 / s to about 300 m3 / s shows exactly this wave. Very impressive! Worthwhile to the series by watching including the comments .
newspaper article and picture series
thunderstorms are therefore always keep in mind, even if they do not fall locally. Useful SMS services for storm warnings in the next post.
Here is the whole diagram with several steep climbs.
